Eliminate Under Eye Puffiness

!±8± Eliminate Under Eye Puffiness

The presence of under eye puffiness can make you look older than you are or make you look tired all of the time. Under eye puffiness can be caused by an allergic reaction to something in the air, fatigue, stress, a vitamin deficiency, to much sun or tanning, smoking, old age, and/or poor diet. Alone, any of these can cause under eye puffiness, but they usually work together to make the condition hard to deal with. There are ways you can be proactive in decreasing or eliminating your under eye puffiness.

1. Sleep. Your eyes, as well as the skin around your eyes need a break from your hectic life. Your body needs to time rejuvenate itself each day, so get some sleep. You should be getting eight hours of sleep a night. Not being tired will prevent you from looking tired.
2. Pretend you are at a spa. At least once a day, sit back and place either chilled cucumbers or cool tea bags over your eyes. Leave them there for approximately 15 minutes. Each can help ease swelling around your eyes., Tea bags can also decrease discoloration if you are also combating dark circles. If it helps you get in the mood, put on a fuzzy bathrobe while you do it.
3. Eat Right. No matter what the topic of the article is, articles having to do with being healthy or looking good always tell you to eat a balanced diet. Eating a diet high in raw fruits and vegetables is one of the best things you can do for your body, including your eyes.
4. Quit Smoking. Constant exposure to cigarette smoke actually causes under eye puffiness. It also decrease the moisture in your skin, making it look dry and flaky.
5. Avoid Rubbing Your Eyes. Rubbing the area around your eyes causes the tiny capillaries to burst, which will contribute to puffiness and dark circles.
6. See Your Doctor. Since under eye puffiness can be caused by a vitamin deficiency, it is important to take a strong multivitamin, and see your doctor.
7. Take a Break. This goes along with needing sleep and pretending you are at the spa.

Our bodies are not designed to be pushed as hard as we push them on the over-processed, greasy, fatty and sugary food we put into it. Taking care of yourself will be visible in a number of different ways including the appearance of your eyes.

Make Your Own Homemade Yogurt

!±8± Make Your Own Homemade Yogurt

The only yogurt bargain is the homemade variety. You can easily make your own. It should only cost 10 to 12 cents per container.

Homemade Yogurt

Equipment:

2-quart double boiler
Candy thermometer
Commercial yogurt maker (most food dehydrators will work) or large Styrofoam picnic cooler with lid
Seven 8 ounce plastic or glass containers with lids

Ingredients:

1 quart milk (whole or low fat)
2 level tablespoons of plain low fat yogurt containing live bacteria, at room temperature
1/3 cup instant nonfat dry milk

Preparation:

Wash all equipment in hot, soapy water. Rinse well with hot water.

Dissolve the nonfat dry milk in the whole or low fat milk in top of double boiler. Stir until the mixture reaches 180 degrees F. Hold at that temperature for 1 minute, then reduce temperature to 115 to 120 degrees F.

Remove 1/3 cup of milk from double boiler and add 2 level teaspoons of live yogurt to it. Blend well.

Return the milk and starter combination to the double boiler and mix well.

Now you need to incubate the mixture. You can use a commercial yogurt maker or food dehydrator, which comes with its own containers. Or, for more even textured results, you can make your own yogurt factory using a large Styrofoam cooler, and seven 8 ounce plastic or glass containers with lids.

To make yogurt in a Styrofoam cooler, pour the yogurt into 6 of the 8 ounce containers and cover with lids. Fill the 7th container with boiling water. Place all the containers in the cooler, with the boiling water container being placed in the center. Place the lid on the cooler and set aside for four to five hours. After incubation, you can add any flavoring you like. 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla makes the yogurt have a milder flavor. Small pieces of dried or fresh fruit can also be added as desired.

Keep finished yogurt stored in the refrigerator.
